Finally - Port Credit library will re-open in March.   The library is one of 132 projects that must be completed by March 31 to be eligible for funding under the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund.    Under this program, the Canadian and Ontario governments invested $1.85 billion for infrastructure projects to help create jobs and help stimulate the economy.

The "official" reopening event for the renovated library will take place on May 7th - location TBD.

Lorne Park Library is also set to open within this same timeframe.

The Spring Real Estate Market

More resale homes sell in Spring (April - June) than at any other time in the year.  These homes also sell at higher prices than any other time of the year.

Port Credit Post Office Update

The new owner of the Port Credit Post Office - will not be able to build retail shops and offices in the building if the municipality designates this building as a Heritage Property.

The development firm that owns the site (Centre City Capital) is planning to put retail shops on the lower levels with office space above that.    They are planning to work with the city's planning and heritage departments (as well as the citizens of the community) to develop a design that complements the 1931 original structure.

The Post office building has been described as a "rare example of public Edwardian Classicism.....that demonstrates the work of significant Canadian architects."

Once the development firm comes back with a heritage study, the committee will go forward with a decision around Heritage designation.
